###### Our in-house camera fanatics are sharing their favorite websites to get the latest and greatest on everything: tutorials, reviews and comparisons, clever tips and tricks, inspiration, and good old fun. Keep in mind, these resources are valuable for all—whether you are an amateur, hobbyist or professional photographer.

The one-stop-shop
Digital Photography Review offers novices and professionals a resource both pre- and post-purchase for cameras, lighting, lenses, phones, printers, off-camera monitoring devices, recording equipment and more. You will find plain language, comprehensive reviews of products from a technical standpoint, build quality and usability.
The [side-by-side product comparison tool](https://www.dpreview.com/products/compare/cameras) allows you to select up to four products and receive an in-depth buying guide on features, benefits and even image quality.
The ability compare the [image quality of up to four products](https://www.dpreview.com/image-comparison/) is invaluable as you are able to move across the image simultaneously on each product to see the actual differences.
And the no-nonsense [online tutorials](https://www.dpreview.com/videos) make learning easy and hands-on.
### [Fstoppers](https://fstoppers.com/)
Inspiration for shooting just about *any* subject
FStoppers is a great resource for articles and inspiration for just about any kind of photography you can think of. The shared content is current and relevant. The original articles and video content are compelling, informative and inspiring. If you like photography, you’ll find something interesting at FStoppers.
Note: with such a wide variety of photographic interests, be aware of which categories you choose to browse; some areas of the site are not for everyone.

Lighting techniques behind the scenes on real projects
The two most simple keys to a good photograph are composition and lighting. However, natural light will not always be suitable and being able to design and control the lighting of your scene is an invaluable skill.
Strobist, as the name suggests, is an excellent resource for strobe lighting, teaching understanding of lighting and how to manipulate it for beginners as well as providing tips and ideas for any skill level. This is typically done through “behind-the-scenes” case studies that not only teach the techniques, but demonstrate them in real-life projects. [Lighting 101](http://strobist.blogspot.com/2006/03/lighting-101.html) is a great place to start.
Note: Strobist is not *actively* producing new content, serving as an archive website for articles from 2006–2021. Though, we still find it to be an excellent resource, as the fundamentals of lighting haven't changed very much!
### [The Digital Picture](http://www.the-digital-picture.com/)
Technical lens and camera testing, and thorough reviews
The Digital Picture provides in-depth, hands-on reviews and extensive standardized testing, including comparison tools, making selecting a lens or camera body a less “blind” process.
Use the [comparison tools](http://www.the-digital-picture.com/Reviews/Comparison-Tools.aspx) to view real, lab-quality images of different gear at various settings and scenarios. This is a playground for exploring technical performance.
You'll also find basic recommendations for gear and a large [collection of articles](http://www.the-digital-picture.com/Photography-Tips/) to help you become a better photographer.
Note: The Digital Picture is primarily Canon-focused, though some Sony bodies and lenses have been more recently added.

The *new* and *coming soon* for all things Canon
Canon Rumors started as a rumors site but now features rich product reviews and industry news. This is a helpful site for a quick scan as it contains a large preview of each post on the home page. If you want to dig deeper, the articles have rich, interesting and relevant content.

Now that there are videos explaining how to be a successful career "YouTuber," it's easier than ever to a find a video demonstrating how to do something, or someone sharing their opinion about a piece of gear. Below are some of our favorite creators that have been around for a while, covering video gear and filmmaking.

Audio for video testing paradise
When it comes to sound for video production, Curtis Judd has some of the best videos out there, showing highly-controlled demos, testing and comparisons. If you're trying to decide between two very specific models of hypercardioid microphones for your interview setup, chances are Curtis is your guy. There are also plenty of videos about audio software, techniques, and lighting.

### [Gerald Undone](https://www.youtube.com/@geraldundone/videos)
Like Curtis Judd, Gerald Undone focuses on more of the technical aspects of video production, with an emphasis on cameras, lenses, and color grading. Gerald's channel features very in-depth testing on video gear and doesn't shy away from highly-technical discussion (check out the [Nerdy Explanations playlist](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLvv4g7UMnnE3FAXAOKGa6ORYuiBnj4gD3&si=F2nDaQp81xCsvG_S)).

Looking for a little more real-world filmmaking application? Check out Matti Haapoja. His videos still explore technical videography, but have a much larger emphasis on applied technique out in the field.
